Martha Munro – Trust Fund Established and Memorial Service May 3rd

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 3rd at 2 p.m. at the Congregational Church of South Dartmouth on 17 Middle St. The family has invited all of Martha’s friends to join in this celebration of her life.

The Dartmouth Library Foundation has now established the Martha Munro Trust Fund in her memory for her service as a Library Trustee and library supporter. Donations to the trust should be sent to the Dartmouth Library  Foundation, Inc. 732 Dartmouth St., Dartmouth, MA 02748.

Library Trustee Paul Pereira interviews Library Director Denise Medeiros on the subject of the April 1, 2008 Election in Dartmouth. Two ballot questions asking for an override of Prop. 2 1/2 pertain directly to the library as well as a debt exclusion question which would fund a new roof, paving the parking lot and a HVAC system for Southworth Library. Denise discusses what the consequences of a yes or no vote will mean, including possible loss of certification, resource-sharing with other libraries, staff layoffs, reduced hours and greatly reduced budget for book buying.

In Memorium : Library Trustee Martha Munro

We are deeply saddened by the loss of Dartmouth Library Trustee Martha Munro who unexpectedly passed away on December 18, 2007. We remember her as a cherished library supporter and Library Trustee Board Member since 2002. Martha also served as a Dartmouth Town Meeting representative and a retired member of the Board of Directors of the Dartmouth Natural Resource Trust.

The town of Dartmouth and the Dartmouth Public Libraries have truly lost a valuable and respected colleague. May our heartfelt condolences and deepest sympathies extend to her parents, siblings and friends. A memorial service will be held in the Spring. Contributions in her memory may be offered to the Friends of the Dartmouth Libraries, 732 Dartmouth St., Dartmouth, MA 02748.

The Libraries will remember her fondly for her exemplary contribution to the  community.
