The second annual mystery theater in the library bash was a big success. The evening featured a colorful cast of local town notables and the play was peppered with jokes about Dartmouth town government budgets, etc. Library Director Denise Medeiros as “Lotta Books” was a convict (last year’s criminal in the first annual bash) out on library confinement complete with a ball and chain and mohawk hairdo. Selectman Joseph Michaud played an attorney (he is one in real life) and Ed Iacaponi, the town’s budget director was Rocky Stallion, this year’s murder victim. Who dunnit? The audience had clues throughout the library and could fill out a police report with their guess. Ed’s daughter was the winner who guessed Nurse Ratchett. She won a mystery written by a local author, kindly donated by Baker Books.
Silent Auction items such as framed Norman Rockwell prints and massages, winery tours and a sail with Community Boating rounded out the action. Cardoza’s catered the event and ran the cash bar. All food and drink was donated by them and all present raved about the dinner buffet.
The audience featured a veritable who’s who in town with Select Board members Bob Carney, Diane Gilbert, Nat Diaz and Kathleen Horan McLean present. A huge thank-you to all the volunteers for this effort and to the Dartmouth Library Foundation for all their hard work involved in this fundraiser that is always fun, fun, fun.
