Mini Golf in Library Big Success

January 28, 2008

The indoor golf tournament at Southworth Library on January 27th was a big success. The event raised 10,000 for the Bucks for Books campaign to offset budget shortfalls. The event made the evening news on ABC Channel 6. The New Bedford Standard Times article about the event was also picked up a library blog called “The Shifted Librarian” in Illinois.

Indoor Miniature Golf Championship of Greater New Bedford

January 16, 2008

Golfman clipartCome to the Southworth Library on Sunday, January 27, 2008 between 9 am and 4 pm, for a swinging good time for the benefit of the Dartmouth Library Foundation’s Bucks for Books campaign.

Play 18 holes for 5.00 on an indoor miniature golf course set up throughout the library. If your score is low, continue on into the championship round for the finalists. Enjoy refreshments, face painting, massage therapy, silent auction items and more. Bring the family for a fun afternoon complete with refreshments and prizes for our winners.

Rick Bolton is providing the indoor miniature golf course–complete with obstacles. This has been a very popular fund raiser in Trumbull, Connecticut. Mr. Bolton is hoping to take the concept national with a Golf for the Gulf campaign to benefit the victims of Hurricane Katrina. He is providing the course to us to help us through our budgetary perfect storm.

Bucks for Books Total Moves Upward

November 19, 2007

We have a giant thermometer on the wall across from the circulation desk at the library colored in red as it creeps up towards the goal of $57,000.00 in our campaign to supplement our book budget shortfall this year.

We are pleased to announce that as of November 19th our total is $15,504.40. The Friends of the Dartmouth Libraries recently donated $7,000.00 towards the campaign adding a much appreciated giant leap towards our goal.

Just a reminder that donations to Bucks for Books are tax-deductible. As the holiday season arrives, remember us during the spirit of giving. And a special thank you to everyone for their contributions small or large – every little bit is appreciated.
